Horses on Parade - Newmarket

Horses on Parade - Newmarket Date Added: Thursday 11th August 2011

Horse about Newmarket is a community art event, promoted by Newmarket Town Council to celebrate their town's unique position as the headquarters of British Horse Racing.

Following a competition, thirteen artists were selected to paint life-sized model horses, basing their design on the name of the 2000 Guneas winner.  Sixteen smaller horses were painted by local schools, youth organistations and charities.

All the horses are now on display in various locations around Newmarket. There is is walking trail around Newmarket showing off the full size and smaller horses.

At the end of the summer, the horses will be auctioned, and the profits will be shared between two local charities, Racing Welfare and St. Nicholas Hospice.
